An Aboriginal group is demanding A$1.8 billion ($1.1 billion) in compensation from Western Australia, alleging the state permitted Fortescue to mine iron ore without a land use agreement. The Yindjibarndi Ngurra Aboriginal Corporation (YNAC) claims operations at the Solomon mining hub have harmed their land and community, according to court filings on Wednesday, February 19.
