At least three killed in Nigeria protests, witnesses say

At least three protesters were killed in Nigeria's Kaduna state on Thursday, Reuters reporters and eyewitnesses said, as demonstrators rallied across the country against rising cost of living and governance issues in the West African nation.

One of the protesters claimed police shot two others, while a Reuters witness saw a lifeless body in front of the government house in Kaduna State.

Kaduna state police spokesperson Mansur Hassan said the police fired tear gas at protesters and not live ammunition. He added that the police would release a report on the incident soon.
