Cape Town named Best City in the world for 2025
Cape Town has been crowned the "Best City in the World" for 2025 by Time Out magazine.
The city claimed the top spot after coming second last year, behind New York.
This ranking was based on a global survey of over 18,500 people, who rated cities on factors like food, nightlife, culture, affordability, and overall happiness.
Among these, Cape Town stood out across all categories.
Time Out Magazine praised Cape Town for its breathtaking natural beauty, vibrant food scene, and laid-back atmosphere.
The magazine also described it as a city where stunning landscapes meet lively urban life.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis expressed his pride, saying the recognition reflects not just Cape Town’s appeal to tourists but also how much its residents love their city.
“It’s about more than just beaches or mountains—it’s about the happiness of people who call this place home,” he said.
Highlights of Cape Town include iconic spots like Table Mountain, the Cape Winelands, and a mix of cultures that offer unique food, music, and art.
Bangkok, New York, Melbourne, and London rounded out the top five cities in the rankings.
