China criticises South Korea's president for spy accusations
China has criticised South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol for accusing Chinese nationals of spying.
President Yoon made the claims during a speech defending his decision to declare martial law. He alleged that Chinese citizens were filming military sites in South Korea to gather intelligence.
Beijing said it was "deeply surprised and dissatisfied" with the remarks.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said South Korea was unfairly linking its internal issues to China, adding that the accusations harm relations between the two countries.
President Yoon gave examples of alleged spying, including three Chinese nationals reportedly flying a drone near a U.S. aircraft carrier in Busan.
He alleged that another man allegedly used a drone to film South Korea's intelligence agency but did not provide further details on these cases.
