Colombia cocaine seizures up 35% year-on-year in 2024, armed forces say
Colombia's armed forces seized 626 metric tons of cocaine chloral hydrate during 2024, the armed forces general command said in a statement on Tuesday, up 35% year-on-year.
Cocaine production and trafficking, along with illegal gold production, are considered the main drivers of a six-decade armed conflict that has killed more than 450,000 people.
The number of clashes with illegal armed groups like leftist guerrillas was up 52% this year to 447, the statement added.
