Ecuador's President, Daniel Noboa has said the pursuit for justice in the Latin American nation must be reinforced with his reelection.

His statement came shortly after he was officially confirmed as the National Democratic Action (ADN) party's candidate for the upcoming presidential election in February 2025.

Noboa, who first took office in 2023, is the son of Ecuadorian businessman, Álvaro Noboa. He was elected to serve an abbreviated 18-month term after former President Guillermo Lasso called for early elections to avoid impeachment.

Speaking to ADN party members at a national convention in Quito on August 9, Noboa emphasised the importance of continuing the pursuit of justice under his leadership. “Because the search for justice continues, the search for justice must be reinforced with a reelection. We as a family and I personally have put all our hearts into this quest for justice,” Noboa stated, as reported by AFP.

Noboa also stressed the significance of consolidating the party's efforts and building on the progress made during his short time in office. “They must also communicate that this is the beginning of a larger transformation, that we have only been in existence for nine months but that we must consolidate, consolidate this political project,” he added.

With this official nomination, the 36-year-old leader is positioned for a potential full four-year term in office. He is set to campaign for a complete term alongside Secretary of infant malnutrition, Maria Jose Pinto as his running mate.
