The ruling Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) hopes to retain power despite growing criticism. Daniel Chapo, 47, is vying for the presidency on the ticket of the Frelimo party. Venancio Mondlane, 50, a forestry engineer, is running for the Podemos party and Ossufo Momade, 63, leads Renamo. Lutero Simango, 64, president of the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM), is also vying for the presidency.
