Ghanaian adventure group to embark on 30,000-kilometre road trip through 3 continents
Wanderlust Ghana, the adventurous group that made headlines last year with their 16-day road trip from Accra to London, has announced an even more ambitious journey through three continents.
The group, which completed the 10,000-kilometre road trip from the Ghanaian capital to the English capital on August 6, 2023, is now planning a 30,000-kilometre road trip that will take them through Paris, Dubai, and Cape Town.
The group made this announcement on their official Facebook page, detailing their upcoming expedition that will begin in Accra and end in Cape Town, with stops in Paris and Dubai.
This year’s journey, set to start in September, Ghana’s tourism month, will feature only six members, a departure from the twelve men and one woman who participated in last year’s trip, local media reports.
The previous expedition, which initially began with little attention, garnered widespread national support as the group travelled through countries such as Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, and France.
Reflecting on the journey, Kwabena Peprah, a member of Wanderlust Ghana, told BBC last year, “We are adventure enthusiasts and tourism enthusiasts. We’ve been driving around our continent, we’ve been driving around our country, and we decided to take it to the next level.”
Due to the popularity of their previous adventure, Wanderlust Ghana have since become tourism ambassadors, partnering with the Ghana Tourism Authority.
While the exact departure date remains undisclosed for security reasons, they are currently chronicling the various cities they plan to visit ahead of the expedition as anticipation is high for this journey across multiple continents.
