Ghana’s National Security has found large amounts of US dollars, gold bars, and fake Ghanaian money hidden in a warehouse near Accra.

Officers carried out the raid in Sapeiman, a town in the Ga South area, after receiving a tip-off.

The money and gold were hidden in twelve large shipping containers which were tracked by officers to the warehouse where they found the cash.

The money was sealed inside wooden crates, covered with cement and charcoal to avoid detection. Some of the crates contained fake Ghana cedi notes in 50 and 100 denominations. Others had real US dollars.

Security officers also discovered boxes suspected to contain gold bars, fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots, raising concerns that criminals might be impersonating soldiers.

Authorities say the way the money was hidden suggests a well-organised criminal group involved in smuggling and money laundering.

A major manhunt is now underway for four key suspects, including a man known only as “Alhaji.”

Officials are also searching for two missing shipping containers linked to the case, local reports confirm.

Security forces have deployed trackers to find them.

Investigators believe this could be part of a much bigger illegal operation.
