Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has taken the cooking marathon a notch higher in her bid to beat the current world record holder, Alan Fisher, and set a new record of 120 hours of non-stop cooking.

“I strongly believe my participation will put Ghana and the North on the global stage and promote tourism and other economic opportunities for Ghana,” Abdul-Razak is quoted by local media Daily Guide.

Failatu commenced the cooking marathon on January 1, 2024, and is currently on her third day of the 5-day record-breaking attempt in the northern part of Ghana.

The tag #FailaCookathon has been part of the top trends in Ghana on social media, X since she began her adventure.

Failatu clocked 54 hours earlier today

Failatu Abdul-Razak is set to prepare a variety of Ghanaian local dishes alongside other offerings.

Meanwhile, Failatu is also expected to surpass Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe, widely recognized as Mama D, who has successfully broken the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, previously held by Irish chef Alan Fisher at 119 hours and 57 minutes.

Dorcus Mirembe, who is yet to receive official recognition, accomplished an impressive cooking marathon lasting 144 hours and 20 minutes.

Failatu becomes the second Ghanaian to attempt a record-breaking marathon.
