At a press conference in Samoa, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer addressed the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, urging Iran not to retaliate against recent Israeli strikes.

Starmer emphasised Israel's right to defend itself against what he termed Iranian aggression, while also calling for all parties to exercise caution to prevent further escalation in the region.

“I am clear that Israel has the right to defend itself,” Starmer said. “ I am equally clear that we need to avoid further regional escalation and urge all sides to show restraint.”

The Prime Minister reiterated the UK's commitment to working with international allies to help de-escalate the situation and maintain stability in the region.
