Saudi Arabia has unveiled a new high-end luxury train experience, "Dream of the Desert," designed to combine world-class hospitality with the Kingdom's rich cultural heritage.

In partnership with Italian hospitality company Arsenale Group in a deal worth 200 million Saudi riyals ($53.33 million), the Kingdom is set to launch its first luxury train.

This move is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to develop its tourism sector and provide high-end experiences for international visitors.

The train features 14 carriages equipped with 34 opulent suites, designed to function as a mobile five-star hotel that blends hospitality with cultural experiences inspired by the country's traditional architecture and desert landscapes.

The train’s interiors utilise earthy colour palettes, fabrics, and artistic details that reflect motifs from sites like Madain Saleh and Hail.

"The Dream of the Desert is not just a luxury train; it is an immersive journey that merges world-class design, hospitality, and Saudi traditions," Paolo Barletta, CEO of Arsenale Group said.

Since opening its doors to international tourists in 2019, Saudi Arabia has been making significant strides to position itself as a top global travel destination. The Kingdom has invested heavily in major tourism projects, including a $500 billion model city set to rise in the desert of northwest Saudi Arabia as part of its Vision 2030 initiative.

Anticipation is mounting as the train is set to begin operations by the end of Q3 2026. Passengers look forward to a culinary experience blending traditional flavours and cooking by top chefs from Saudi Arabia and overseas.
