By November 11 2024, names of all Malaysian Members of Parliament who fail to undergo a mandatory health screening will be published as directed by the Speaker.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul instructed that all members of the house avail themselves of compulsory screening beginning July 17 to ensure their health status is known and any abnormalities are detected.

Failure to do so, according to him, will warrant a publication of their names on the official Parliament website.

"This medical screening is compulsory for all MPs and the last date is Monday, Nov 11," he said at the start of Wednesday's (July 17) meeting of the august House.

The MPs are expected to undertake the health screening at the Parliament clinic or any private facility. They may also get further information from the Parliament clinic head and Parliament health adviser Dr. Murugesu Raju.

“It will help a lot in assessing the health status of MPs and allows immediate preventive steps to be taken.

“The Health Ministry agreed to conduct the screenings and without exception, all MPs were given the health screening letter,” he was quoted.

The directive follows the collapse of at least 11 MPs over the past 15 years.
