Daniel Grapain Moreno, at only 15 years of age has displayed remarkable ingenuity, inventing a robot from recycled materials.

The boy genius from Santo Domingo Zacatepec, a rural community in Oaxaca, a city in the central part of Mexico went viral online when a Facebook user by the name Maestro Marciano uploaded a video of him and his talking robot Larry on social media.

The 15-year-old repurposed a plastic jug of water and a mayonnaise container into a talking robot to participate in his school's knowledge fair.

"I named him Larry, everything is recyclable, most of what you see is recycled, the mayonnaise bottle, his body and even the cap," said Daniel in the video online.

Despite the limited resources at his disposal, the student of the 158 Agricultural Technology High School, designed the robot with Bluetooth capabilities.

Marciano in a post on Facebook said, “He wanted a robot, and despite its limitations, of not having programmable cards, computer or specialized tools, he managed to build one, using mainly his creativity, enthusiasm, discipline, hard work and many recycled engines. He is a very talented young man, with a very developed practical intelligence, very pleasant and a great sense of humour.”

“He's not the only one, I'm sure there are many children and young people like Daniel in our communities, with a lot of talent, great ideas and a desire to go ahead. They just need support, if it is in your hands to support, do so, you would be contributing a lot to our society,” he added.
