Philippine President Bongbong Marcos implements a six-year strategy for population control
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has issued a directive for a comprehensive and long-term plan addressing the country's population, as confirmed by the Malacañang Palace on Friday.
Under Memorandum Circular Number 40, the Palace endorsed the Population and Development Plan of Action (PPD-POA), aligning it with the six-year Philippine Development Plan (PDP) of the Marcos administration.
The circular instructs all relevant government agencies and entities of the National Government, including government-owned or controlled corporations, to actively participate in the implementation of the PDP-POA (Plan of Action) 2023-2028. Local Government Units (LGUs) are also encouraged to contribute to these efforts.
According to the Palace, the PDP-POA was formulated by the Commission on Population and Development (formerly known as the Commission on Population), which will serve as the lead agency for the plan. The Memorandum Circular takes immediate effect.
