Qatari Emir, German President stress peace process resumption in the region

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad al-Thani, and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier met on Wednesday, underscoring their mutual agreement on the crucial need to restart the comprehensive peace process in the Middle East.

Both leaders proposed the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as a constructive solution to ongoing conflicts in the region.

In a social media post on platform X, Sheikh Tamim shared insights from their extensive discussions, emphasizing collaboration between the two nations in areas such as investment and energy.

The leaders addressed the latest developments in the Gaza situation, jointly highlighting the imperative to revive the path of comprehensive peace in the Middle East, ensuring the creation of an independent Palestinian state by legitimate international resolutions.

President Steinmeier's visit to Doha followed his three-day trip to the Sultanate of Oman, where he engaged in discussions with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.

The Oman News Agency reported that the talks centered on shared interests and facets between the two nations, encompassing consultations on current regional issues.

Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi, Oman's Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed on the X platform, "The German President's visit to Oman and the comprehensive talks that took place will undoubtedly deepen and expand our cooperation, especially in the field of energy and tourism."

The meetings highlight diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties and address pressing regional challenges.
