Saudi Arabia extends financial proposals to Tehran
Tehran was asked not to escalate the military confrontation in the region in exchange for Saudi Arabia offering to invest in Iran, a Bloomberg report said.
Saudi Arabia has been attempting to stop a larger confrontation in the region through diplomatic talks and communication with its regional and international partners ever since the Israeli army and Hamas forces began fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Senior Saudi officials have underlined time and again that the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the parameters of UN resolutions and based on the 1967 boundaries is necessary to end the historical conflict between Israel and the Palestinians and to pave the way for regional peace.
However, it appears that the Saudis have found temporary ways to stop the situation from getting worse.
Bloomberg added that Saudi Arabia has suggested to the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran that if the activities of proxy groups affiliated with the Islamic Republic are stopped to prevent regional conflict, then Saudi Arabia will also expand its cooperation with Iran and is ready to make economic investments in Iran, which is a sanctioned country."
Since the devastating attacks on the Gaza Strip on October 7, there have been occasional but numerous skirmishes on the northern border between Israel and Lebanon between Israeli and Hezbollah forces.
There have also been reports of Houthi militia attacks on Israeli targets in Yemen. The Saudis appear to have short-term options to avert the escalation of the crisis.
Furthermore, proxy militias associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have repeatedly struck American forces in Iraq and Syria. These disputes have heightened fears of a larger confrontation in the region.
However, the number of dispersed confrontations by the Islamic Republic's proxy forces has decreased significantly since the start of the temporary ceasefire six days ago.
The US Department of Defense stated on Tuesday that no additional assaults against US military locations in Iraq and Syria had been recorded since the start of the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
