Saudi Arabia is set to launch an Africa-focused airline as part of efforts to promote tourism and investment ties between Saudi Arabia and Africa.

The airline which will be based in Riyadh aims to introduce multiple air transport links to connect several Saudi cities with African destinations through direct and transit flights.

The country projects easier travel and economic exchanges between both regions through the move.

The establishment of the new airline is expected to revive a previously operational carrier that was discontinued in 2021 due to financial difficulties, the Middle East Monitor reports.

The initiative has been approved by the Saudi regulatory bodies and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) and is still in its evaluation stages.

Factors including commercial opportunity, the size of the investment, stages of operation, and choice of a trade name, among others are still under consideration.

Meanwhile, the airline is expected to have five booking classes.
