Thailand’s government has burned over 29 tons of illegal drugs in a strong move against narcotics.

The drugs, worth nearly 10 billion baht (around 294 million dollars), were destroyed at a hazardous waste incinerator in Samut Prakan town.

The substances, which included different forms of methamphetamine, ketamine, and heroin, were burned at 1,200 degrees Celsius.

Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin spoke to reporters at the Food and Drug Administration centre in Nonthaburi before the drugs were taken away for burning.

This latest operation is the 59th of its kind, as the Thai government continues its fight against drug trafficking.
