Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Libya, Akile Saleh, in the presidential complex in Ankara on December 13, 2023.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, Oman Kurtolmosh, expressed hope for unity, solidarity, brotherhood, and political stability in Libya, TRT reports.

Kurtolmosh affirmed that Turkey wants to see Libya move forward much stronger and triumph as a united and integrated country in every field.

He emphasized, "I want to state once again that we, as Turkey, are with the Libyan people in all possibilities to ensure political stability." Anadolu agency reported.

Saleh recounted Turkey's support for the Libyan people and pointed out the contributions of Turkish businesses to Libya's economy by stating that Turkish companies have made great strides in Libya.

Saleh also expressed gratitude for Turkey's assistance during the flood disaster in Libya and confirmed that Turkey has played an important role in mitigating the effects of the flood disaster by offering an aid package and providing relief for victims.

Turkey seeks to reinforce its military presence in Libya. On November 26, the Turkish parliament agreed to a bill presented by Erdogan which corroborated extending the presence of Turkish troops in Libya for another 2 years.

In the second half of 2019, Turkey dispatched its military forces to military bases in various regions of western Libya following litigation of a memorandum of understanding for military cooperation between Erdogan and Fayez al-Sarraj, the former head of the Libyan Government of National Accord.
