In his speech at the Lord Mayor's Banquet in London on Monday, December 2, the UK's Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, expressed his desire for Ukraine to be in a position of strength "so they can secure a just and lasting peace on their terms that guarantees their security, independence—and right to choose their own future." If Russia gains control of part of Ukraine and secures a commitment that Ukraine won't join NATO, Vladimir Putin will be partially vindicated.
