US reaffirms commitment to help Taiwan 'protect itself against coercion': Video

In a recent statement, the United States reiterated its commitment to support Taiwan in bolstering its self-defence capabilities amid increasing tensions with China. This assurance comes as Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te visits the US territory of Guam, a move that has drawn sharp reactions from Beijing. Ingrid Larson, managing director of the Washington office of the American Institute in Taiwan, emphasised that the US will continue to help Taiwan "protect itself against coercion." This support is deemed essential given the growing threats Taiwan faces.
