'We hope that Bitcoin will grow': Salvadoran town hopes Trump brings 'good times' - Video
The Salvadoran town of Berlin, nicknamed "Bitcoin Berlin," is looking forward to a potential boost in Bitcoin adoption and value, hoping that Donald Trump's influence will bring "good times" for the cryptocurrency.
Located near the capital San Salvador, Berlin has emerged as a hub for Bitcoin enthusiasts, rivalling El Zonte, also known as "Bitcoin Beach."
The town's optimism is rooted in Trump's support for Bitcoin, although it's unclear what specific actions he could take to benefit the cryptocurrency.
In a cafe in the municipality of Berlin, where cryptocurrency is welcomed with open arms, barista Marcela Flores told AFP, "With Trump’s election and everything he recently said about bitcoin, we hope that bitcoin will grow.”
Meanwhile, El Salvador's president, Nayib Bukele, has been a vocal supporter of Bitcoin, even making it legal tender in the country.
