World's first tri-fold smartphone launched
A major tech breakthrough was announced with the launch of the world's first tri-fold smartphone by Huawei in China on September 10.
This innovative device features a dual-hinge system and advanced screen-bending technology.
Yu Chengdong, executive director of Huawei, said that continuous technological innovation is important for advancing folding-screen smartphones, an area known for its complex technology demands.
According to Huawei Central, the smartphone has a 10.2-inch screen, the largest foldable display ever seen on a phone, and can function as a 6.4-inch and 7.9-inch device when folded. It includes an OLED panel with an LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the Chinese foldable phone market is projected to grow by 114.5% in 2023, with shipments expected to exceed 7 million units.
