Analyst views Prabowo's presidency as boost for Indonesia's global presence: Video

Energy expert and policy analyst Putra Adhiguna views newly sworn-in Prabowo Subianto's presidency as a boost for Indonesia's global presence.

The 73-year-old ex-general was inaugurated as Indonesia's president on Sunday, October 20, following a landslide election win on February 14.

He takes over from Joko Widodo, who has been in power for a decade. Prabowo's victory has been controversial, with accusations that Widodo used state resources to support him and his running mate, Widodo's son Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Despite his past, Prabowo has rebranded himself as a "cuddly" grandpa, appealing to younger voters. He plans to pursue a non-aligned foreign policy but has indicated a bolder stance on the world stage, as reported by the AFP.
