Anti-racism protesters march to counter far-right riots in UK: Video

Hundreds of anti-racism activists took to the streets across Britain to counter recent violent riots sparked by far-right groups.

The demonstrations, held in response to the unrest, follow a series of destructive protests that erupted after the tragic stabbing of three young girls in Southport, northwest England, last week.

The riots began after false reports circulated online, incorrectly identifying the suspected attacker as an Islamist migrant. The misinformation fueled tensions and led to widespread violence.

Carrying placards with messages like “Refugees Welcome” and “Reject Racism, Try Therapy,” protesters gathered in towns and cities, determined to push back against the hate-fueled rhetoric. The marches took place nine days after the fatal incident in Merseyside, aiming to restore calm and promote unity.

In anticipation of further unrest, around 6,000 riot-trained officers were deployed to manage the rallies and nearly 30 counter-protests. The heightened security comes after immigration law firms and refugee centres were named as potential targets by far-right groups on the encrypted messaging app Telegram.

Despite the heavy police presence, the anti-racism protests remained largely peaceful.
