Argentina hounours 30th anniversary of tragic bombing: Video

The Jewish community of Argentina marked the 30th anniversary of the bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) that tragically claimed 85 lives and left 300 wounded in 1994.

At precisely 9:53 local time (12:53 GMT), the exact moment when the attack took place in Buenos Aires three decades ago, sirens echoed throughout the city.

As the sirens wailed, friends and families of the victims held up pictures, a silent tribute to their loved ones.

In a ceremony held last year at the site where the AMIA headquarters once stood, demands were made for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack to be brought to justice. This call for justice has been a recurring theme every year on the 18th of July for the last three decades.

Argentina's President Javier Milei said in an address on July 17, "Today we chose to speak out, not stay silent."

"We're raising our voices, not folding our arms. We choose life because anything else makes a game out of death," he said.
