Beijing responds to US report on military corruption: Video

China has strongly criticised a recent Pentagon report that highlights a "new wave" of corruption within the Chinese military. The report suggests that corruption among senior leaders has disrupted China's military modernisation efforts.

In response, China's foreign ministry urged the United States to stop issuing "irresponsible reports" and accused the Pentagon of exaggerating the situation.

Meanwhile, in New York City, Baimadajie Angwang, a former NYPD officer, is fighting to be reinstated after being cleared of spying charges for China. Angwang, who was accused of feeding information about New York's Tibetan community to the Chinese consulate, had the charges dropped in January 2023 due to new evidence. Despite this, the NYPD fired him for refusing to comply with an internal investigation.
