Beijing has defended its handling of COVID-19 data, stating it shared information "without holding anything back" after the World Health Organization urged China to provide more data and access to better understand the virus's origins. Foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized at a press briefing that "five years ago, China immediately shared epidemic information and viral gene sequences with the WHO and the international community."
