What we know

Three spectators died and over 70 were injured after falling from the upper stands at Algiers’ 5 July Stadium during celebrations of MC Alger’s league title win.
The incident occurred on June 21, after MC Alger drew 0–0 with NC Magra to clinch the Algerian Ligue 1 championship.
The Algerian Ministry of Health reported that 38 injured fans were taken to Beni Messous University Hospital, 27 to Ben Aknoun Hospital, and 16 to Bab El Oued Hospital
Local media reported that a section of a security barrier in the upper tier collapsed, causing fans to fall onto the lower stands.
MC Alger postponed its trophy presentation out of respect for the victims.

What they said

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune offered condolences and wished the injured a swift recovery. He called the incident a “painful tragedy” and extended his thoughts to the bereaved family. “It is with great sadness and sorrow that we received the news of our supporter who passed away after falling from the upper stands.”, MC Alger issued a statement in an Instagram post mourning the death of one supporter, Younes Amguzzi.
