Dubai named World’s Best Culinary Destination, South Africa leads in Africa
The best food around the world can be found in Dubai, according to the latest World Culinary Awards Scheme.
The awards which celebrate and reward excellence in the culinary industry announced winners of its 2024 edition at the annual awards ceremony, highlighting restaurants that presented strong showing.
Dubai emerged as the global champion with the World’s Best Culinary Destination title, emerging winner in the Middle East’s category as well.
South Africa was named Africa’s Best Culinary Destination, with Peru and Thailand winning the award in Latin America and Asia respectively.
Italy was voted best in the Europe category while Jamaica won Caribbean’s Best Culinary Destination.
According to organisers, the results follow a year-long search for the world’s leading culinary brands. Votes were cast by travel industry professionals and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.
MezzaLuna restaurant in lebua Hotel Bangkok was voted ‘World’s Best Restaurant’ for its unique blend of premium Japanese ingredients with classic French cooking techniques.
Other winners include Nobu (‘World’s Best Restaurant Brand’); Rockfish, Dubai (‘World’s Best Mediterranean Cuisine Restaurant’); Saigontourist Group Culinary Culture, Delicacies Festival (‘World’s Best Culinary Festival’ and ‘Asia’s Best Culinary Festival’); Gourmet on Tour (‘World’s Best Culinary Tour Operator’); Su Va Na, Phuket (‘World’s Best Underwater Restaurant'); Sirocco (‘World’s Best Rooftop Restaurant’); Pierchic @ Jumeirah Al Qasr (‘World’s Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant’).
The awards were held in Summersalt Jumeirah Al Naseem, Dubai, UAE.
