France revises military role in Africa, aims for flexible partnerships: Video
France's Foreign Affairs Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, has announced changes to France’s military approach in Africa.
Speaking during his visit to Ethiopia as part of his Africa tour, Barrot said the aim is to "reconfigure our partnerships in coordination with our African partners."
He explained that the new approach would make partnerships more flexible and better equipped to meet the needs of African countries.
“We remain fully engaged in responding to crises on the continent,” Barrot added during his meeting with African Union Chairperson Moussa Faki.
Barrot’s visit to Ethiopia followed his earlier stop in Chad. The tour highlights France’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with African nations while adapting its strategies to meet current challenges.
AFP reports that the meeting with the African Union in Addis Ababa focused on deepening partnerships and addressing regional crises together.
Both sides emphasised the importance of collaboration for peace and stability in Africa.
