How a Komodo Dragon crashed through a hotel ceiling in Malaysia
Guests at a hotel on Malaysia’s Manukan Island got the surprise of a lifetime when a Komodo dragon fell through the ceiling of one of the rooms on Tuesday, prompting a tense standoff with staff.
Footage of the encounter shows hotel employees using a stick and rope in a cautious attempt to remove the massive lizard from the ceiling, Viory reports.
The reptile is seen wedged in the ceiling panels before it suddenly crashes to the floor, leaving staff and guests visibly startled. Workers then quickly secured the animal with ropes and carried it out of the room.
Komodo dragons, native to parts of southeastern Indonesia, are the world’s largest lizards. While attacks on humans are rare, they can be dangerous due to their sharp teeth, powerful claws, and venomous bite.
Their venom prevents blood from clotting, which can lead to excessive bleeding and, in some cases, death without prompt medical attention.
