How the French delegation left the Olympic Village for the Opening Ceremony - Video

The Opening Ceremony for the Paris Olympics is happening along the River Seine.

With a focus on athletes for this year, up to 7,500 athletes are participating in a boat sailing ride down a six-kilometre (four-mile) stretch of the Seine in an armada of 85 boats.

This is the biggest event in the history of the Olympics and the first time the event is happening outside a stadium.

Ahead of the event, the French delegation left the Olympic Village in style. The Olympic Village is where all participating athletes are housed during the Olympic Games for the Opening Ceremony.

The delegation was transported in several buses and escorted by police dispatch through the town to the Seine River where the event is happening.

French security officials are also on high alert, AFP reports.
