On Monday, the Peace Declaration in Jakarta marked the commencement of the election campaign in Indonesia, with the three presidential candidates aspiring for peaceful, honest, and fair elections.

Candidate Ganjar Pranowo emphasized the importance of safeguarding ballot papers to prevent fraud, highlighting that the ballot represents the voice of democracy, not of a specific individual, party, or group.

Another candidate, Anies Baswedan, expressed confidence in the General Election Commission (KPU) and General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to ensure a fraud-free election.

The presidential pairs pledged a campaign free from fraud, with different starting points: Prabowo and Gibran in Jakarta, and Ganjar and Mahfud in Papua and Aceh.

Bawaslu's Chairman, Rahmat Bagja, urged election supervisors to uphold justice without discrimination, emphasizing careful monitoring of campaign activities and swift responses to violations.

Fadli Ramadhani, Chairman of Perludem, urged Bawaslu to promptly address election violations, ensuring adherence to the legal framework to maintain a peaceful electoral context in Indonesia.

The election campaign is set to begin on November 28, 2023, and conclude on February 10, 2024, followed by a quiet period from February 11-13, 2024, leading to the presidential election on February 14, 2024.
