Iran fires ballistic missiles at Israel: Video
Sirens blared across Israel on Tuesday, October 1, as Iran launched a series of ballistic missiles in retaliation for Israel's military campaign against its Hezbollah allies in Lebanon.
Explosions were heard in Jerusalem and the Jordan River Valley as Israeli citizens scrambled to bomb shelters as the missile strike unfolded.
A senior Iranian official informed Reuters that the missile attack was ordered by Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is reportedly staying in a secure location.
The missile strike followed Israel's announcement earlier on Tuesday of a ground offensive into Lebanon.
Iran's response comes after Israeli airstrikes killed top Hezbollah leaders, including Hassan Nasrallah, the group's leader of 30 years. Nasrallah died in a deadly airstrike on Beirut on Friday, September 27.
