Kenyan police heads meet Haiti police force: summary
What we know
- Haitian Police officials met with the Kenyan Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome on June 18 in Nairobi. The meeting at the National Police Service Headquarters comes ahead of a planned deployment of the Kenyan police force for a multinational peacekeeping mission in Haiti.
- The Haitian team led by Joachim Prohete also met with commanders of the 1,000 Kenyan officers who will be participating in the mission. Kenya will host Haitian police for training, with drills taking place at Kenyan barracks.

Kenya’s IGP reiterated the country’s commitment to supporting Haiti tackle gang violence that has plagued the country in recent times. “NPS remains committed to collaboration in the mission, for the good of the people of Haiti, especially women and children,” Japhet Koome said.
