Libya, Qatar and Algeria move towards cooperation in energy sector
Officials of Libya, Qatar and Algeria have held strategic discussions aimed at boosting the generation of energy and its related products, as well as enhance their cooperation in the sector.
At the just-ended 12th Arab Energy Conference in Doha, Qatar, organized by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), the three countries marked a significant niche in their discussions, Algeria Focus reports.
Libya's Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, engaged in talks with Qatar's Secretary of State for Energy Affairs, Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi. Their discussions delved into proposed energy projects and cooperation programs between the two nations.
Ahmed Al-Tarhouni, the Media spokesperson for the Ministry of Oil and Gas, shared noteworthy insights, revealing that both parties agreed to establish a joint team for coordinating collaborative efforts in the energy sector, paving the way for new opportunities.
Minister Mohamed Aoun and his delegation met with Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, along with key representatives from Sonatrach and the Algerian companies Sonelgaz and Titan.
Their discussions focused primarily on bilateral cooperation, sharing technical expertise, and exchanging experiences across various facets of the energy industry, encompassing exploration, production, manufacturing, maintenance, training, and workforce development.
Amongst other things, Libya aims to reclaim its role as a significant player in the energy market. The improving security situation in Libya creates a conducive environment for the revival of energy-related endeavours. Collaborating with regional partners not only fosters cooperation but also enhances Libya's standing on the global stage.
