A plus-size fashion influencer and business owner in Guangzhou is challenging China's traditional beauty standards.
Amanda Yao designs bold, stylish clothes for women, breaking away from the typical dark, shapeless outfits often marketed to larger sizes.
After struggling to find clothes that fit when she returned to China in 2015, Yao began her fashion brand, Yue Design.
“I want my customers to have clothes that express who they are inside, rather than soulless pieces that exist only to make them look thinner,” Yao told the AFP.
Her colourful designs aim to empower women to feel confident, rejecting the idea that beauty is limited to smaller sizes.
