Chidimma Adetshina, a former contestant in the Miss South Africa pageant, has accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 competition.

This decision follows her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa competition due to intense criticism regarding her nationality and allegiance.

Adetshina’s withdrawal came after South Africa's Home Affairs Department launched an investigation suggesting that her mother might have committed identity theft to obtain South African citizenship. Concerned for her family's safety, Adetshina announced her departure from the Miss South Africa competition on August 8, expressing gratitude for the experience but prioritising her family's well-being.

In a video shared on social media, Adetshina expressed her gratitude for the support she received and announced her decision to join Miss Universe Nigeria. "I have received an invitation from the Silverbird group, organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria Beauty Pageant," she said. "I say this with great excitement because I have decided to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Beauty Pageant."

Miss Universe Nigeria extended its support to Adetshina, acknowledging the challenges she faced and encouraging her to represent her Nigerian heritage on an international stage.

The organisers had in their invitation praised her resilience and welcomed her participation as a strong contender in the upcoming pageant.
