Among the 179 lives lost in the Jeju Air disaster, one family's sorrow stands out as a touching reminder of the human cost of such tragedies.

"It's heartbreaking, unexpected things happened. My brother was so filial to my 97-year-old mother, that she couldn't sleep, I felt sorry for her. She has been crying all day. She says she misses him already," says the sister of a male passenger who perished in the crash.

Like many others, the family is struggling to come to terms with the sudden and devastating loss. The passenger, a young professional returning from a business trip in Bangkok, was among the 181 people on board the ill-fated flight.

The Jeju Air flight, a Boeing 737-800, was attempting to land at Muan International Airport when it veered off the runway and crashed into a wall before bursting into flames. Initial reports suggest that a bird strike and poor weather conditions may have contributed to the accident.

The crash has left only two survivors, both crew members, who were pulled from the wreckage and are currently receiving medical treatment.
