Saudi Arabia leads charge to lift Syria sanctions, ease humanitarian crisis: Video
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has called for the lifting of international sanctions on Syria.
This appeal was made during a high-profile meeting in Riyadh on Sunday, January 12, which included top diplomats from the Middle East and Europe.
The call for sanctions relief comes from recent political changes in Syria. In December 2024, Islamist-led rebels succeeded in toppling the long-standing regime of Bashar al-Assad. The new Syrian leadership, represented by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, has sought international support to rebuild the war-torn nation.
