Businesses, schools, and public offices were shut down across the West Bank and East Jerusalem on Sunday, April 6, as Palestinians observed a general strike to protest the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

"The Arab and Islam countries don't do anything for Gaza. We can do something more than what we're doing here now," a local resident told AFP. The strike was called by a coalition of Palestinian political factions, including both Fatah and Hamas. Organisers described the move as a unified protest against what they called “the genocide and the ongoing massacre of our people”.

The strike was observed not only in the West Bank and East Jerusalem but also in refugee camps and other areas supportive of the Palestinian cause.

In East Jerusalem, Salaheddin Street — normally a centre of commercial activity — remained quiet and deserted.
