South Africa offers Nigerians new 5-year visa
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a new visa policy for Nigerians.
Qualified tourists and business people from Nigeria can now apply for a five-year multiple-entry visa. They no longer need to submit their passports to complete the process.
President Ramaphosa shared the news during the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission meeting in Cape Town. He said the move was part of efforts to make it easier for Nigerian visitors to travel to South Africa.
Ramaphosa added that this was one step toward removing barriers to business and investment between the two countries.
"We need to address the challenges that companies face and create a better environment for investment," he was quoted.
The two nations also agreed to sign an agreement to prevent violence and criminal attacks on each other’s citizens.
This Early Warning Mechanism will be finalised by March 2025 to help avoid incidents like past attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
