The Spanish government has launched a porn passport app to regulate the viewership of adult content by teenagers in the country.

The move forms part of efforts to curb porn addiction in persons who fall below 18 years. The application allows adults to access R-rated digital content anonymously but blocks minors from viewing it.

The app falls under the Spanish government’s new Digital Wallet app (Cartera Digital Beta) programmed to verify the legal age of persons who access pornographic content.

Verified users will be given 30 “porn credits,” on their digital ID which can be used to access adult content monthly.

Each time a credit is issued by the app, it generates a QR code. A link provided when users enter the address of a desired adult website connects them to their Digital Wallet.

The wallet then presents a credential verifying the user's age without revealing any other personal information, the Economic Times reports.

User tokens allow them to visit the site 10 times before it gets replenished. There is no limit on the number of tokens that can be generated.
