‘They’re going to be in trouble’: Trump warns Venezuela - Video
US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Venezuela after two of its military jets were reportedly flying near a US Navy vessel in international waters on Friday, September 5.
The comments came amid an ongoing dispute between Washington and Caracas regarding Venezuelan drug trafficking organisations.
"I would say they're going to be in trouble. We'll let them know about that. We heard that happened, but it wasn't really over," Trump told reporters at the Oval Office.
"If they do put us in a dangerous position, they'll be shot down," he continued.
Trump, in addition, denied the possibility of a 'regime change' in Venezuela, as suggested by the government of Nicolas Maduro, while labelling the country's 2024 election as 'strange' where Maduro won and extended his time in office.
"I can only say that billions of dollars of drugs are pouring into our country from Venezuela [...] Venezuela has been a very bad actor and we understand that. And when you look at that boat, you see the bags of whatever it is. Those bags, you know what those bags represent? Hundreds of thousands of dead people in the United States, that's what they represent," Trump added.
