The UAE has launched the world's first solar and battery storage farm that runs 24/7.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was present during the launch in Abu Dhabi on January 14.

The project, led by Masdar and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), will combine solar power with advanced battery technology to deliver clean energy around the clock.

The facility will feature a massive 5.2-gigawatt solar power plant and a 19-gigawatt-hour battery storage system.

It can generate 1 gigawatt of power daily, making it the largest solar and battery storage project in the world.

Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi described the project as "clean energy on an unprecedented scale."

According to him, it "sets a new global benchmark in addressing renewable energy challenges."

Officials say this innovation solves one of the biggest problems with renewable energy: providing power at night or during cloudy days.

The project also supports the UAE's goal to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

According to Masdar, the project will create over 10,000 jobs and help power industries like artificial intelligence and advanced technology, ensuring a sustainable and reliable energy future for the UAE.
