The United Nations Human Rights Council is scheduled to hold a special session on the human rights situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on February 7, 2025.

The special session was requested by the DRC and supported by 27 states, including Algeria, Belgium, and France.

The meeting will focus on the human rights situation in the east of the DRC, particularly in North Kivu and Ituri provinces, where M23 armed rebels have been committing atrocities against civilians.
