Venezuela says state gun control ensures safety: Video
Speaking on state television channel VTV, Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello contrasted Venezuela’s approach with countries where guns are legally kept in private homes.
He argued that the state’s monopoly on weapons helps prevent mass violence and limits the ability of individuals or groups to carry out attacks.
Without naming countries directly, Cabello criticised nations such as the United States, where gun ownership is widespread and mass shootings frequently make international headlines. He said Venezuela’s model ensures that acts of violence cannot be carried out independently, apart from what he described as the recent US-led attack earlier this month.
