World’s oldest living man celebrates 112th birthday
John Alfred Tinniswood, who recently celebrated his 112th birthday at his care home in Southport, England, is officially the world’s oldest living man.
Born on August 26, 1912, just months after the Titanic sank, shortly before Arizona became a US state, and the end of China's Qing dynasty, Tinniswood’s milestone has captured global attention.
Despite the milestone, Tinniswood remained remarkably calm. "In all honesty, no difference. I don't feel that age, I don't get excited over it. That's probably why I've reached it. I just take it in my stride like anything else," Guinness World Record quoted him.
Tinniswood was officially recognised as the world’s oldest living man by Guinness World Records earlier this year.
He served as a World War II veteran in the Royal Army Pay Corps, where his duties included managing finances and helping stranded soldiers. Commenting on the world’s evolution, he expressed a critical view. "It’s no better in my opinion, or hardly any better," he said.
Even at 112, Tinniswood stays engaged with the world, managing his finances and keeping up with global news via the radio.
Tinniswood’s daily routine is refreshingly simple. He enjoys fish and chips every Friday but doesn’t follow a specific diet.
His advice for longevity? “Moderation,” he says. “I was quite active as a youngster; I did a lot of walking. But to me, I’m no different [to anyone]. No different at all.”
